We now offer a 175W Metal Halide (HID) Digital Ballast. Compared to magnetic ballasts our digital ballast offer up to a 30% savings in power, and up to 7% increase in light output. They have a fast start up time, run much cooler, and are silent in operation.
Electronic circuitry enables many safety features with digital ballasts:
- If there is an open circuit (bad bulb, unscrewed bulb, faulty wire...), the electronic ballast will turn off.
- If the bulb turns off, the digital ballast will only attempt to igninte for 2 seconds once every 10 minutes until the bulb strikes, rather than supplying continuously high voltage to a grow light bulb that is off. This greatly extends the life of bulbs.
- Bulb power is steadily increased as bulb brightens, and at maximum brightness power output is continuous. This soft start and continuous power output also extend the life of your grow light bulb.
The digital ballasts are FCC tested and certified to produce NO RF interference, eliminating the need for shielded cables. They are CE certified for safety, using all UL certified components. The electronic ballasts are silicone sealed inside for longevity and protection (water resistant). They are wired for 120V. The case is aluminum with cooling fins, and is extremely compact measuring 2" tall, 5" long and 3" wide. The power cable is 5’ long, and the cable to the reflector is 13’ long.
This electronic digital ballast is ready to go- no additional parts necessary (and never any parts to service). Just plug the ballast into your reflector with a grow light bulb, plug the ballast in a 120V outlet and it will turn on. (Ceramic mogul base not included).
Our digital ballasts can work with any reflector, however we suggest our air coolable reflector which has a plug to accomodate our digital ballast.
One year exchange warranty- usually with a 3 day turnaround time.
