Ozone/UV air treatment is best accomplished with the lowest fan CFM that allows for the best Hydroponics closet grow room air exchange. The longer period of time the odor is exposed to the ozone, the better the odor is destroyed. This slower air movement reduces the amount of post duct work required to effectively treat the exhausted odor. So, no new purchase of a higher CFM exhaust fan is needed, or your initial purchase can be lower CFM exhaust fans at a lower cost.
The two words to remember when installing a Big Blue Ozone Generator are Contact Time. The longer the ozone "sees" the odor molecules, the better the "kill" rate.
Contact time will determine your appropriate size of Big Blue ozone generator . If you will be running duct work into an attic, it is possible to use the smaller 8" UV ozone generator as the attic becomes a huge mixing chamber. For installs of the Big Blue ozone generator where the exhaust and duct work is exiting through the side of the building, it will require a long run of duct work to eliminate the odor, around 25" feet. Q: What size exhaust fans should I use?
A: This is more related to the number of air exchanges, in a given period, you desire for proper plant transpiration. It is not a question of what is best for odor elimination. It is best to use the lowest cfm exhaust fans available to accomplish this exchange. BIG BLUE ozonators units come in varying diameters from 4 to 12 inches. The larger diameters are not only designed to fit your existing ventilation duct work but also ever higher exhaust fans volume. In other words the 12 inch BIG BLUE Ozone Generator will handle more cfm than the 4 inch.
Q: Do I need a mixing chamber?

A: Yes and No. What Big Blue Ozone achieves is the 100% solution to eliminating closet grow room odors. Hydroponics plant odor in your closet grow room is primarily bacteria based. This bacteria is so small that it requires high powered microscopes to view. Bacteria so small that filters, alone, cannot remove all of it from the air.
Q: Will a Big Blue UV Ozone Generator remove smoke smell after a house or business fire?
A: Yes. Depending on the amount of smoke damage, and the contents involved, it could take up to 3 days of running a 12" Big Blue, but the smoke smell will be eliminated. Not too long ago, a T-Shirt business had major smoke damage and all of their clothing was reeking from smoke. Scott, the owner, set up a 12", ran and checked the results, and after the third day, the smoke smell was gone. The owner did not lose any of his products. Q: What is the difference between corona discharge (CD) and ultraviolet light (UV) ozone?
A: CD ozone generator units use an exposed electrical arc to generate ozone. A byproduct of Corona Discharge ozonation is nitric acid. When mixed with moisture from the humidity in the closet grow room this corrosive “syrup” contaminates the surfaces that produce the ozone. This requires frequent cleaning of the arcing surfaces or the contamination will reduce the ozone output of the generator. UV lamps use concentrated ultraviolet light waves to produce ozone. These bulbs do not produce harmful residues. Humidity does not affect their function. There is no need for regular cleaning.
Q: Will the high humidity levels, of my garden, affect the ozone output?
A: Ultraviolet bulbs could be immersed in water (do not try this at home) and continue to produce ozone. Ultraviolet lamps are used extensively to purify the water in pools, spas, ponds and bottled drinking water. Corona Discharge, on the other hand, uses an exposed electrical arc to produce ozone. Would you put your toaster in the bathtub and expect it to continue to brown your bread?
Q: Do I need a pre-filter?
A: A filter is not required. But we suggest a simple filter to extend the life of your exhaust fans. Dust, pet hair and other airborne particles mix with the growing humidity and become a wet mess. This mixture can foul the exhaust fans blades and mechanisms. Using some old panty hose material stretched over the inlet to the exhaust fans and secured with duct tape will help minimize this contamination. This "panty hose" filter is easily replaced when you do your regular Hydroponics garden maintenance.
Q: Will high heat levels effect the ozone output?
A: Yes. The manufacturer has compensated for the heat that is produced by closet grow room lights. They use larger and multiple lamps to produce enough ozone to adjust for this heat. It is best to install your BIG BLUE Ozone Generator as far from your Hydroponics grow lights as is convenient.
Q: Will ozone remove the fragrance from my plants?
